Electrolysis Aftercare Tips: How to Care for Your Skin After Treatment
Electrolysis is a safe and effective method for permanent hair removal, but proper aftercare is essential. Since the process targets hair follicles with electrical currents, your skin may be slightly sensitive afterward. Taking the right steps post-treatment can help minimise redness, prevent irritation and promote healing.
In this blog, we’ll go over the best aftercare tips to keep your skin calm, smooth, and healthy after an electrolysis session. Whether you’re new to electrolysis or a regular client, following these guidelines will help you achieve the best possible outcome.
24-48 hours
Apply aloe vera gel, witch hazel gel or antiseptic cream 2 times a day until your skin has returned back to normal but for at least 48 hours.
Avoid sun exposure and apply SPF daily (factor 30 or above).
No touching the area.
No make-up.
No perfumed products.
No sunbathing or sun beds for 48 hours.
No saunas, steam rooms or hot showers for 48 hours.
No swimming for 48 hours.
No energetic exercise for 48 hours.
Apply cold compress over the area for 5 minutes to reduce swelling.
Never use ice directly on your skin.
No tight clothing in the area.
Avoid exfoliating and active skin care products including retinol, acids or AHAs until the skin has healed.
Do not pick scabs off.
Never pluck, wax or thread the hair in between sessions. This will delay your results!
You can trim, shave or bleach the hair if necessary.
Do not apply bleach on the area until healed.
Do not shave the scabs off.
Take antihistamine to help reduce excessive swelling.
